2017-18 Biweekly PTA Newsletter - Issue date 09-22-2017
We had an amazing turnout on September 7th for our first meeting of the year for your Parent Teacher Organization (Friends of Albert Einstein Academies) – thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the discussion. One thing I realized during the meeting is that some parents and supporters of our schools are not familiar with what programs your fundraising dollars support. Since its inception in 2007, our Parent Teacher Organization has been integral to the funding of special programs such as Art, Music, PE, Gardening/Nutrition, Science, field trips, and German language support. This year we are happy to announce that we added funding for the libraries to modernize our equipment and ensure that we can offer books in every child’s native language. In the future, we are looking for other programs we can help to fund that will further improve our schools including researching the possibility of adding music and sports to our middle school. All of these amazing programs require money and one very important way we raise the funds is through your monthly giving. We have an ambitious goal this year to have 150 new families sign up for monthly giving by November 1st. Can you afford $30 a month, $15 dollars a month, $5 a month? No amount is too small and every dollar helps us to continue to fund the programs that make our schools awesome! Please consider starting your monthly gift today by visiting foaea.org/donate. If you have not already seen the video created by one of our parent volunteers, Aili Kato, that explains the importance of our organization better than I can in words, please check it out here.

Grant Writing

We are putting together some teams of grant writers to help us fund the current programs that we support such as Art, Science, PE, and Gardening as well as some new initiatives (possibly a middle school music or sports program). This effort is being supported by two professional grant writers in our community that will mentor teams to research and write grant proposals. If you are interested in being a member of a grant writing team, please fill out the following form and we will contact you in the next few weeks.

October PTA Meeting and Wine Event

Our next Parent Teacher Organization Meeting will be held on October 5th at 6pm in the Middle School MPR. Following the meeting, we will be hosting a social event at Food for Thoughts Café (located next door to the Middle School) with wine and appetizers. This will be an excellent opportunity for you to socialize with other parents and discuss with meeting presenters how you can get involved in our schools. Click here for the meeting agenda.

Reduce Your Carbon Footprint with CarpoolWorld

Friends of Albert Einstein Academies is trying out a carpool matching service for our schools through CarpoolWorld. Carpooling will help ease the congestion around our schools at drop-off and pick-up, lower our carbon footprint, and help connect families that live close to each other. If you are interested in carpooling with other families in your neighborhood to and/or from school, please sign up here
